TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday once again targeted TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, branding him “Andhra Babu” and wondered where was the need for an Andhra party (read TDP) in Telangana.
“He (Naidu) refuses to leave Hyderabad and Telangana, even if bodily thrown out! He along with another Naidu of the BJP (Venkaiah Naidu) forged an unholy alliance and both are conspiring to defeat TRS in the elections, which will not happen,” he said.
KCR addressed several meetings in nine Assembly segments in Adilabad district. At almost all of them, he ripped apart the Congress and the TDP. Blaming both for the backwardness of Telangana, in particular Adilabad district, KCR promised to develop the “Kashmir of Telangana” into a progressive district within two years. Continuing his attacks on TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, he alleged that Ponnala had betrayed Telangana at every step, when it came to irrigation projects. “He is now accusing the TRS of coveting the CM’s gaddi. What is wrong in wanting to form the government and becoming the chief minister? Are we not the ones who had struggled for 14 long years for Telangana and finally, achieved it?” he questioned.
Lashing out at Union Minister Jairam Ramesh, the TRS chief said Jairam Ramesh talks big, but cannot even get elected as a mere sarpanch in direct elections. “Congress party’s assurances are nothing but empty promises,” he quipped.
Reiterating his secular credentials, he promised judicial powers to the Wakf Board so that it can reclaim its lands.
On the issue of corruption, he asserted that it would not be tolerated by a TRS government. “I will spare none, not even my son/daughter or kin if they were found to be corrupt. All corrupt elements will be sent to jail by the Telangana government,” he said.
